Curriculum Outcomes What we will be studying this term. Language Arts Speaking and Listening
-speak and listen, and reflect on their thoughts, ideas, feelings and experiences Reading -select, read and view with understanding a range of literature, information, media and visual texts -respond personally and critically to a range of texts Writing -use writing and other forms of representation to explore, clarify and reflect on their thoughts, feelings, experiences and learnings; and to use their imagination. Students will be working on writing in their Writers Notebooks and develop Personal Narratives.
Math The mathematics curriculum extends the skills and concepts begun in earlier grades while at the same time offering students the opportunity to develop abstract reasoning skills. For the first term, we will be looking at the following Math units;
Number Sense- reading and writing whole numbers and demonstrating an understanding of the place value system.

Addition, Subtraction, multiplication and division
Area and Perimeter
Science Students in grade 5 will be studying a unit on weather and students in grade 4 will be studying a unit on animal habitats.
Social Studies Students will study citizenship, power and governance. Students will understand the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.
Health All students will learn strategies for healthy lifestyles of both a physical and personal nature. As well, they will examine the strategies for positive personal development and healthy relationships.
